Spring burst out at the superb and historic venue of Vale Royal Abbey GC, in the heart of the beautiful Cheshire countryside, with a full field of 120, plus a waiting list enjoying a great day in wall-to-wall sunshine,
There was some excellent scoring led by Josh Crumplin (Disley) and Chris Jackson (Tytherington) with a massive 51 points in the pro am section leaving them well clear of Elliot Tickle (North Manchester) and Darron Tickle (Blackley) 44 and Alex Pritchard (Poulton Park) and Tom Butterworth (Delamere Forest) who won a cpo on 42 from Phil Kelly and his Stamford partner James Woodcock.
Josh also led in the individual pro section with 41, three more than Craig Corrigan and Ian Ridgway (Disley) to pick up valuable Order of Merit points.
It was scorching in the am am section with three pairs level on 42.
Getting the nod in the cpo were Sale’s David Wilson and Richard Harper from Charles Herbert (Alderley Edge) and Ian Grimsditch (Stamford) with Richard Margrave (Stamford) and Paul Traynor (Saddleworth) third.
Completing the prizes was John Bell (Fairfield) who won the Nearest the Pin prize.
Alliance President Ian Brooks (Bolton Old Links) gave his usual deserving praise to all, both on and off the course for their efforts in making this a memorable first Alliance competition in Spring.
