Josh sets new records at sunny Disley

Disley Golf Club were proud hosts for the Manchester Alliance’s final Winter Series event – President’s Day, played in glorious weather with stunning views around their scenic course.
Alliance President Ian Brooks was delighted with the support from all at Disley Golf Club as the MDGA completed one of the best Winter Series in recent years with just a single postponement through weather since it began in September.
The competition for the President’s Trophy was a singles Stableford and new levels were set by Disley assistant professional Josh Crumplin throughout the series concluding with a stunning course record round to clinch the Order of Merit title.
Josh began with an eagle three on the first hole and added plenty of birdies and just one bogey to finish with a fantastic 60 and 47 points.
It was an Alliance record in its Centenary Year with the President delighted to present the President’s Trophy to Josh as well as his Order of Merit prize.(Pictured)
His closest followers in the professional competition were fellow Disley pros Ian Ridgway 41 and Scott Jackson 40 who tied with Jamie Howarth (Davenport) the OoM runner-up.
The top individual amateur was Paul Traynor (Saddleworth) 42 from Matt Hill (Disley) 40 and Amateur Order of Merit winner Chris Jackson (Tytherington) (Pictured) who won a cpo on 39 from Tom Kirton (Prestbury).
Disley also took the nearest the pin prize won by Matt Hill.
Ian Brooks gave deserving thanks to all at Disley on and off the course, the players and sponsors during a busy season and the Alliance staff for all of their efforts in making this a memorable and happy season matching the Alliance motto of ‘Friendship through Golf’.
