Sandiway Golf Club launches new Scratch competition
The historic Sandiway Golf Club is one of the top clubs in Cheshire and regarded as one of the finest inland courses in the North of England and over the years has hosted numerous county, regional and national competitions.
The club is regarded as the spiritual home of Cheshire GA, regularly hosting committee meetings, matches and championships.
They have just launched details of the ‘Sandiway Oak’ a new 36-hole Scratch competition.
It will be held on Saturday April 12 and become an annual event, Entries close on March 31 and the field of elite golfers will be capped at 60 players with the lowest handicaps.
Golfers will compete for the Sandiway Oak Trophy and a share of a healthy prize fund thanks to the support of Ellison Wealth Management Ltd.
Sandiway officlal David Hanratty said: “The Delamere Horn is on the following day and we have agreed with them that, assuming ‘The Oak’ is a success, we will quickly pair the two tournaments to make it a Two Day 72-hole Scratch competition like the Cheshire Cat between Wilmslow and Stockport Golf Clubs, which attracts top players from across the country, and apply for WAGR status, hopefully starting next year.
“Entries can be made on the club website www.sandiwaygolf.co.uk or they can contact me on either 07703 199064 or dlhanratty@msn.com for more information.”
