Northenden put on a great day for the Alliance
Sponsored by Don Milligan 'DJM Dairies'
After the recent spell of very welcome dry weather a full Alliance field were able to enjoy a great day of competitive golf and excellent hospitality and support from the home club.
The condition and presentation of the Northenden course drew universal praise from the players with particular compliments for the excellent greens.
A new star made her Alliance debut as former LET player and now Sky Sports golf pundit and commentator Sophie Walker, who lives in Heaton Norris and is a member at Stockport Golf Club, partnered serial Alliance winner Charles Herbert (Alderley Edge).
Sophie was given a warm welcome by Northenden Captain James Palmer and although she helped Charles post a respectable 39 points in the pro am section it was not enough to get in the prizes in a very closely fought leader board.
Alistair Waddell (Chorlton) and Josh Crumplin (Disley) set the pace in the individual pro section with 43 but Alliance stalwart Craig Corrigan showed his enduring cool class coming in with a late 44-pointer to take top spot.
It was tight in the pro am section with a cpo on 45 going in favour of Alistair Waddell and his Chorlton partner Daniel Tate from Josh Crumplin and Chris Jackson (Tytherington).
Just a point back were Scott Jackson and Neil McGuinness (Disley) who won a cpo from Craig Corrigan and Phil Cooney (Houghwood).
In the am am section home duo Andy Slim and Ash Bakhat led in with 45 points, two clear of John Kilner (Hart Common) and Clint Davey (Ellesmere) who won a cpo from Pete Fotheringham (Mellor) and Neil McPherson (Hazel Grove).
The nearest the pin prize went to Jack Wiggans (Chorley).
Alliance President Ian Books gave deserving thanks to all who had worked hard to make this a special day and to Northenden for their great support and is looking for a similar experience at Reddish Vale next week.
