Delightful Dunham provides fitting finale to end the Winter Series
The busy MDGA Winter Series, which began in September 2025, reached its conclusion in dramatic style at Dunham Forest Golf & Country Club which put on a great show both on and off their superb course for a full field of 36 Teams of Four.
It was a very busy day superbly organised by Alliance officials President Ian Brooks and Jim Cunliffe, both members of Bolton Old Links GC.
The prizes were for the top three teams and top three individual professional scores.
John Kilner’s Hart Common GC team set the early team target with 86 pointswhich was soon matched by Alliance regular Bob Barrow (Davyhulme Park) and his Flixton GC cohorts.
Sean Owen, Bolton Old Links professional, and his club team finished one point behind on 85 points.
It was equally close in the individual pro section with three players Jamie Howarth (Davenport) Ryan O’Neill (Penwortham) and Rob Braithwaite locked on 39 and sharing top spot.
The Nearest the pin prize was won by Tony Green (Leigh GC)
The Alliance motto of ‘Friendship Through Golf’ was given a great show of camerarderie in the après golf refreshments as players mingled and enjoyed each other’s company in the superb Dunham clubhouse
It was also the final day as Alliance Captain for the season by Alistair Holloway (Denton)-and he expressed his appreciation of the work the MDGA does for professional and amateur golfers throughout the year with a busy programme of Inter Club knock outs currently being played in the summer months.
