Martin ready for new role at Fairfield

Fairfield Golf Club’s new manager Martin Flynn (Pictured) has had great experience in golf for many years and has enjoyed the last 12 years as a member of the club.

Martin, handicap 17.6, said:
”I was a member of Reddish Vale GC for a good few years and my main reason for joining Fairfield was the members and the welcome I received when first of all I played here as a guest and later as a social member – this is definitely MY CLUB now!
Having run a successful engineering business for over 40 years I thought that it was time to sell-up and retire- but as retirement did not suit me I asked if I could be of any use to the club in any way - part time or casual.
I was not for one minute expecting such a high profile job being suggested once our club manager had left the post vacant.
To be fair I often believed that this would be my ideal job 10 years ago- never too late someone told me – so here I am in this role.
I sincerely believe that we have one of the best clubhouses in the North West and I have charged myself with trying to promote the fabulous function facility we have on site and have rebranded this as ‘The 1892 Suite’.
It is perfect for most types of celebration, birthday parties 21 and above, christenings, baby showers and meetings but most of all complete weddings as we are licensed to hold them.
The views from the balcony in the 1892 Suite are simply stunning and tend to sell the room immediately people set foot in there.
I would like to thank the board and members for the way they have supported me in the early days of my role- not just as a fellow golfer but a fellow member of the club and I promise to give this role everything.
As we are close to a fairly new housing estate and within quite a large residential area we have a good social membership and are always looking to increase our membership both on and off the course.
Like most golf clubs we have suffered through the Covid period and looking to bounce back, I would like to see our club go to new levels and will be trying hard to do this.
To do that we need more members both golf and social- why not come along and see what we have to offer!”
