Marple Golf Club provided good weather, a course with slick greens and excellent off-course hospitality.
After last week’s wash-out at Dunham Forest the players were delighted to get back in action and last season’s Order of Merit champions Josh Crumplin (Disley) and Chris Jackson (Tytherington) (picture 1) showed their desire to defend their titles.
They were top of the Pro Am section with 44 points two clear of Harry Doyle (New Mills) and Steve Pinnington (Tytherington) who tied on 42 points with Werneth Low’s Ben Thompson and John Harrop.
Josh made his a double by winning the individual pro prize with 39 and completed his treble by winning the nearest the pin prize.
In joint second place in the individual pro section on 37 were Andy Palmer (Chorley) and Ryan O’Neill.
There was a sibling success in the Am Am section with Tom and Elliott Kirton (Prestbury) (picture 2) taking top spot with 44 well clear of John Kilner (Hart Common) and Danny Beeley (Westhoughton) who won a cpo on 41 from Alliance Captain Alistair Holloway (Denton and Anthony Kenny (Prestwich).
