Josh is too hot to handle in the sun

Sponsored by Barry Hayes 'The Circus Tavern'

Once more the MDGA was given wall-to-wall sunshine as Blackley Golf Club were great hosts for the latest competition both on and off the course.

With the end of the season looming it’s tight at the top of the Professionals Order of Merit and Disley Golf Club’s in-form assistant pro Josh Crumplin led the way posting an impressive 42 points to lead in the individual pro section, two clear of Alliance legend Phil Archer (Poulton Park) and Phil Kelly.

Local knowledge paid off in the Pro Am section with Blackley pro Steve Ingram finding an excellent partner in Sue Oldham to post 45 points and win a cpo from Josh Crumplin and Chris Jackson (Tytherington) two more than Phil Archer and his Birchwood partner Dave Morris.

There were clear winners in the Am Am section with Buxton and High Peak’s dynamic duo of Paul Waring (not the European Tour star) and Paul Clay on 45, three clear of home pair Adrian Bowcock and Stewart Thompson who won a cpo from Disley’s Wayne Lindsay and Manchester Captain’s Captain the distinguished Steve Misell.

Terry Broadhurst (Poulton Park) won the nearest the pin prize to complete an excellent day in the sun for players and officials and drew plenty of deserved praise from Alliance President Ian Brooks.
