Duki beats the weather
Sponsored by Entwistle Electrical Contractors
After a weekend of shirtsleeves and shorts it was back to full winter gear at Dukinfield Golf Club in near freezing temperatures, cold winds and some heavy showers in Greater Manchester.
The quality and condition of the Dukinfield course drew plenty of favourable comments from the golfers as the area managed to miss most of the heavy showers.
There were some Alliance legends in the top scores led by Phil Archer (Poulton Park) who topped the individual pro score with 37, one clear of Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and Jack Wiggans.
With OoM leader Josh Crumplin (Disley) absent, due to PGA exams, the leaders on the day were able to reduce his current lead.
It was close in the pro am section with Scott Howarth (Davenport) and club colleague Paul Robinson on top with 46.
Alliance Captain Grant Hamerton had an excellent partner in Steve McClure (Dukinfield) who helped him amass 45.
Next in was jack Wiggans and Best Dressed Player Graham Moores (Chorley) on 42.
Stamford dominated the Am Am section with Ian Grimsditch and Steve Lennon (Stamford) on top with 44 from Richard Margrave (also Stamford) and Paul Traynor (Saddleworth) 42 and Anthony Kenny (Prestwich) and Alistair Holloway (Denton) winning a cpo on 40.
Jack Wiggans completed a good day for himself by winning the Nearest the Pin prize.
Once more the excellent host club and their staff drew well deserved praise from Alliance President Ian Brooks (Bolton Old Links)for their support on the day from all angles on and off the course.
