Wonderful Worsley sets up a thrilling finish

The latest MDGA Winter Series competition at Worsley Golf Club attracted a full field who enjoyed their excellent parkland course and historic clubhouse backed by great hospitality and support from staff and club members.

It was the first time that several players had played at the Worsley course and they all paid it great compliments and were delighted with its quality.

The early pace was set by MDGA legend Phil Archer and his fellow Poulton Park GC professional Alex Pritchard.
Alex posted 42 in the individual pro section with Phil just two points behind him.
Phil and his regular partner Mark Pasquill combined well to set a stiff target of 47 in the pro am, one ahead of Alex and his partner Ray Fogg.
But as always lurking near the end of the field was OoM Merit champion Josh Crumplin (Disley) and his amateur OoM champion Chris Jackson (Tytherington).
Josh posted 41 to finish in second place in the individual pro competition behind Alex and one ahead of Phil.
Josh and Chris won the pro am section after a cpo with Phil and Mark with Alex and Ray in third place.

The Am Am section was even hotter with three pairs posting 43 points.
The cpo was won by Alliance Captain Alistair Holloway (Denton) and Anthony Kenny (Prestwich)  from Stamford’s Carleton Weldon and Spencer Lavery and Dave Smith (Hart Common) and Danny Beeley (Westhoughton).

The final prize for nearest the pin on the 18th hole was won by Paul Greenhalgh (Turton) and Chorley’s Graham Moore again took top spot as the Best Dressed Golfer
