Terri ready for a busy year at Northenden
TERRI Tivenan had a frustrating start to her year as Lady Captain at Northenden due to the Covid problems and she had to wait for the best part of six months to enjoy her traditional drive-in from the tenth tee at her club as playing restrictions were lifted.
Watched by a full audience of lady members Terri drilled her drive straight down the middle of the fairway for 134 yards with Estelle Spence winning the prize for the correct guess for the length of the drive.
Northenden Captain Gary Aspinall, who will be doing his role for the second successive year, was delighted to present Terri with flowers and champagne after her drive-in.
The ladies also made some beautiful cakes to add to the special occasion après golf.
It is Terri’s second stint of being a lady captain as it was a role she filled at Chorlton Golf Club about ten years ago.
Terri said: “Northenden is a very upcoming club that caters for all age groups and provides a very friendly atmosphere with lots of social events through the year.
It is a terrific venue for special occasions- weddings, birthdays etc with excellent catering facilities and I have enjoyed my six years of membership.
My current handicap is 24 and my best was 17 and my favourite hole is the 18th – because it is the last one! My other favourite course is Chorlton.
My other hobbies are line dancing and supporting Manchester United and I will be playing about three times a week and my chosen charity I will be supporting is The Stroke Association.
My golfing highlight was winning two ‘majors’ within three days – Mr Captains and The Gold Medal in 2018.
If I had to choose three players to join me in a four-ball they would be Tommy Fleetwood, Donald Trump and Geoff Garnett- for obvious reasons!”
