National honours for Hazel Grove Golf Club

HAZEL Grove Golf Club officials, staff and members are delighted to be given the prestigious award of England Golf’s ‘Golf Club of the Year’.

James Rowlands, the club manager and PGA Professional, who has been at the club for 10 years, outlined the reasons for their outstanding success.

James said: “We got the title by application and we then demonstrated that we offer equality and diversity, and work with local community groups such as the Stroke Association.
We are Safe Golf accredited and have worked hard to achieve the ‘Women in Golf Charter’ by offering ladies a clear pathway into the club through coaching and mentoring.
We also highlighted many projects that our fantastic volunteers have completed improving the clubhouse and course over the past 12 months.
Over 200 clubs applied for the award with a final short list of four.
The awards ceremony was virtual on the EGU YouTube channel and we organised a members’ event to celebrate being a finalist and then we only went and won with ecstatic celebrations!!
I would personally like to thank our brilliant management board, very strong team of volunteers and our local membership! Without them we wouldn't be where we are now!
We plan to continue improving what we offer here at HGGC.
We have recently updated our practice facilities which now boast an indoor/outdoor coaching studio with Trackman and high-speed cameras.”

Hazel Grove chairman Mick Jones added: “We are extremely proud to receive this award from England Golf.
It is real recognition of the huge efforts and commitment put in by all our employees, members, volunteers in particular the Club's Working Party, James Rowlands our Club Manager and the Management Board team over the past year to continually improve our club.
Hazel Grove is on a real high at the moment and continues to drive improvements and new initiative and is truly a ‘Club for Everyone’."
