It’s hot at the top at marvellous Marriott.
THE Marriott Worsley Park Hotel and Golf Club have been great supporters of the Manchester Alliance since they opened well over 20 years ago and they again put on a great course and off-course hospitality for another full Manchester Alliance field.
They had to cope with some typical April weather of sunshine, showers and strong winds but enjoyed greens in great condition with most of the sections going to the wire to decide the prize winners.
Alliance legend Craig Corrigan showed his ever-present skills to win the individual pro section with 39, one more than OoM leader Jamie Howarth (Davenport) and Dave Smith (Worsley).
It was also close in the pro am section with Andy Palmer (Chorley) getting great support from his Stamford partner Paul Barlow to lead in with 45 from Martyn Hamer (Davyhulme Park) and Charles Marsh (Worsley Marriott) 44 and Craig Corrigan and Joe Manfredi (Regent Park) and the old firm of Dave Smith and Jimmy O’Reilly (Ellesmere), both 43.
It was even hotter in the am am section with three pairs locked on 43.
Getting the nod in the cpo were Mike Fenton (Styal) and Don Milligan (Ashton-on-Mersey) from Stamford duo Martin Dwyer and Steve Finan and Alistair Holloway (Denton) and Anthony Kenny (Prestwich).
Completing the prizes was Haigh Hall’s Alan Crompton with the neatest the pin win.
Sponsoring the day was Denton and Lancashire legend Bob Bardsley (Footjoy) who was joined by his former Lancashire team mate Steve Hamer and home club’s Steve Hindle and Alan Bowerbank.
