Anthony relishing new role at Bramhall

ANTHONY Herbert (pictured) has a distinguished and varied experience in the golf industry and is looking forward with great anticipation to his new role as General Manager at Bramhall Golf Club.

Anthony outlined his time in golf from beginning to now:”My love affair for golf started when I joined Macclesfield Golf Club as a junior at the age of eight. It wasn’t until I was 16 however that I really started to focus on golf as a possible career.
My big passion prior to this was football. The summer of my G.C.S.E.’s I remember fondly as a summer spent on the fairways of the golf course from dawn till dusk and by 17 I had reduced my handicap low enough to begin my PGA training.
My career in golf began at Chorlton cum Hardy Golf Club under PGA professional David Valentine at age 17. During the first summer here I decided I needed a back-up plan before commencing with the PGA so I went to college and got A levels in Law, English Language and Psychology.
I moved back into golf in the summer of 2001 at the Tytherington Club under PGA Professional Neil Coulson and began my PGA training the following year.
After three years at The Tytherington Club I moved to Mottram Hall for a brief spell and from there to Shrigley Hall where I completed my PGA training in 2006.
I spent 16 years at Shrigley Hall learning all I could about the golf industry and hospitality. My final role at Shrigley Hall was Resort and Golf Manager which involved full control of the golf business and all the elements within whilst also helping when required on a management level with the Spa and Leisure area.
Golf is still a huge passion of mine and I love to get out on the course when I can. I love feedback good or bad on how things are whether it’s the course or the club so will ask Bramhall members to feel free to bend my ear and let me know how we are doing.
I am very grateful for the opportunity to become the Club Manager of this fantastic club and I look forward to the future and whatever it may hold for Bramhall Golf Club.”
