Davenport’s dynamic duos dominate on home turf
MANCHESTER Alliance Captain Chris Lee again lived up to his nickname of ‘Righteous Brother’ as the Alliance came through two days - being polite - of inclement weather, to enjoy another fine day at delightful Davenport GC which has an excellent course in great condition and a superb and friendly clubhouse enjoyed by another full house of Alliance players.
The day was dominated by home players led by their Captain, Peter Crosby and his very supportive partner Nick Parker, (pictured) who led in the Am Am section with 42 points ahead of Ian Godfrey (Stamford) and Paul Ralph (Hazel Grove) 41 and cpo winners Richard Margrave and Paul Traynor (Stamford) 40.
Then in the Pro Am section home professional Jamie Howarth had terrific support from club colleague Paul Robinson to post a hot winning score of 46. It left them well clear of Tim Maxwell (Knutsford) and Brian Fisher (Bramhall) 42 and Ian Ridgway (Disley) and Neil McGuinness (Alderley Edge) 41 who won a cpo from Alistair Waddell and Steve Whitfield, Ollie Pantoja and Josh Corrigan (Ashton-on-Mersey) and Jack Wiggans (Chorley) and Andy Hannay (Stamford).
It was left to Chorlton assistant pro Alistair Waddell to break the home monopoly as he had the leading individual pro score of 42, three more than Tim Maxwell and Ian Ridgway.
Richard Blackwell (Mottram Hall) missed an ace by a few inches as he won the Nearest the pin prize on the 16th hole kindly donated by Paul Crisp of CPD Design.
As always the day went without a hitch thanks to the excellent Alliance team and support from all at Davenport Roll on the full house at Warrington!
