Congratulations to Chris Lee (Mellor & Townscliffe) on his appointment as MDGA Captain 2021/22

Chris Lee (Mellor & Townscliffe)
MDGA Alliance Captain 2021/22

A message from Chris ...

First of all, let me say how much of an honour and privilege it is to have been asked to become Captain of the Manchester and District Golf Alliance for the 2021/22 season. Hopefully Covid will recede and we will soon be coming back to packed clubhouses, great banter and laughs.

I was introduced to the Alliance 12 years ago by Dave Allcock, a Mellor stalwart and long time supporter of the MDGA. Over this period I have come to realise that the Alliance is like one big, friendly golf society that supports its sport and clubs around the Manchester area. In the time that I have been supporting the Alliance I have got to know many of the amateur and professional players who clearly thrive on the competitions that are organised each Wednesday from September through to May. The Alliance are also a great supporter of the clubs in the local area and it has been a pleasure to represent my club in all the events, the Dunham Forest, Archie Preston Mixed and City Glass Foursomes.

Having gained so much fun and enjoyment out of playing in the Alliance events I am pleased to be able to give something back to the MDGA which has given me such great pleasure over the years.

As for a little bit of myself. I live in Marple and I have been playing golf since the age of 14 (I started at Colne GC) and my home club is Mellor & Townscliffe. I have been a member there since 1997 and was fortunate enough to be Club Captain in 2009 and have represented the club in interclub competitions in all of the MDGA events. My interests out of golf are that I am a lifelong, avid Burnley supporter. I try to play snooker and darts but love to console myself with going out for a curry with my wife, Jackie, also a keen golfer at Mellor and between us we have 4 grown up boys (Aaron, Michael, James & Jack).

I work in Hazel Grove in the semiconductor industry where I am responsible for the setup and manufacturability of micro chip processing.

Left me finish by saying I am looking forward to the year ahead where I will have the pleasure of meeting all players and of course the Captains of the clubs hosting the Alliance events. I can promise you will of course have my full support in the year ahead!

Thank you!
Chris
