Triple ace day at Old Links

HOLES in one at golf clubs are a bit like the local bus service- none for ages then they arrive in numbers.
This was certainly the case at Bolton Old Links where the highlight came in the recent monthly medal with three aces being posted and celebrated in style.
Oliver Bowler, handicap 10, set the standard on the 178-yard seventeenth hole as his radar-like seven-iron went unerringly into the hole.
The second ace of the day came on the fourth hole from Simon Wooff, handicap 9, and he kept up his great run with a second on the 17th hole.
Simon was able to win two top watches for his achievements and all of the players were able to enjoy plenty of amber nectar at the outside 19th hole to celebrate the ace hat-trick.
Simon finished with nett 68 and Oliver 70
Oliver (pictured celebrating on the fourth green) said: “Me and my playing partners were laughing after the shot because I said I would get a hole in one before I hit the shot! I called it!”
