Hancock Trophy a big hit at Flixton
THE transfer of the Hancock Trophy for Mixed Pairs from its long-standing venue of Sale GC to Flixton GC and playing on a Sunday proved to be a big hit with a full field enjoying a great competition on an excellent course with superb support from all at the host club. Local pairs dominated the Am Am led by Davyhulme Park’s Carole Brady and Barry Jackson who took the historic trophy with a best-of-the-day 41 points.
It took them two clear of home duo Paul Thornley and Alisha Clephane-Wilson who won a cpo from Sean O’Shea (Flixton) and Christine O’Shea (Davyhulme Park).
The pro am winners were Andy Earlam and Tania Ashworth (Saddleworth) with 43 points one more than Tom Clancy (Cheadle) and Angela Gerrard (Saddleworth).
Tom Clancy was top pro with 30, five more than Aandy Earlam and Barry Jackson completed a memorable personal day by also taking the Nearest The Pin prize.
